Welcome to CEMI – Caltech Microbiology!

When most people think of Los Angeles, they think of the Hollywood sign, beaches, 90210 or Melrose Place… not Caltech microbiology. Yet this is where they go wrong. Some of the most exciting work in modern microbiology is being done right here in Los Angeles (well, actually, Pasadena), and it reflects our environs. Like the organisms we study, we are small yet potent, diverse, quirky and unconventional, yet capable of changing the world. We invite you to explore this site, challenge your preconceptions, and contact us if you’re interested.
